The Keys to Time and Space by Police-Box-Traveler The Keys to Time and Space by Police-Box-Traveler
Well, I thought that I'd just drop a picture of the Tardis Keys I've collected and used in my photos and cos-play costumes and such. A few of these i have made, one was customized by me, and the rest are actual licensed collectibles.

From left to right, top row: An old six pin Yale key that I had filed out nice and smooth front and back, same with the second key which is a more standard 5 pin type that I had cut to match the John Pertwee key from the episode Spearhead From Space which was Johns first episode as the Doctor. I had used screen caps for comparison. Next key is an ERA key based on the 2005-present series, and the last is a brass key that I had smoothed out, then textured with a fine wire brush wheel and then aged with a hydrochloric acid based solution.

Second Row: A solid cast aluminum key that I had customized with a set of precision files and then made a new chain loop for out of a strip of aluminum, then strung on an antique snake chain. Next, is a John Pertwee era key that was molded from a screen used prop. This key was the first spade shaped key in the Doctor Who series and was featured in episodes such as Planet of the Spiders. Next is a Sylvester McCoy key as seen in the episode Ghostlight that I had purchased from ebay and then had aged and blackened with the same hydrochloric acid solution I had used on the brass key. The last two are official releases based off the spade shaped Tardis key. One is limited to 3,000 pieces and then the original mold was destroyed. It is pewter and therefore rather soft and easy to scratch. The Last is made of Pewter as well, but seems to be of a higher tin and silver content and is much harder and darker a metal, it is also the most readily available of the officially licensed Tardis Key Replicas.

HAHAHA! Thanks! ^_^ I added a few more variations since this was taken. I'm on a site called the Replica Prop Forum and apparently the McCoy key there is actually a recast XP I got a different one that was based on the recast but is an all new mold though as well as this other one made by Mooncrest Models that is bigger but very nice. On the RPF there's a guy going by the handle Megatron that is supposedly going to make more of the one the recasted copies were based on buuut I haven't heard anything in awhile.

I could never make out the key Sylv brandished in Ghostlight, happy to see it here properly. It now rivals the spade-shaped key for me.

Actually I got a better one recently off eBay but haven't updated anything yet. I also added another spade shaped key and upgraded one of my official keys by filing off the copyright because well...it just doesn't seem likely that the Doctor would copyright his key with a BBC copyright XD

I sure hope it will be XD Like I said, I'm still designing how it would work. I'm planning to reuse the battery holder and sound board compartment from the 9th and 10th sonic and remove the switch and put it in a copper pipe that's threaded at both ends, then make some fittings that go on either end, one with the sonic emitter and one with an activation button. add a grip and some greeblies to it here and there and wire the emitter end with a light and speaker, maybe a bit of thin copper rod to the top for the thumb rest/power lever regulator...and I was thinking of doing a finger ring similar to the one Professor River Song had in Silence in the Library, only for the index finger.

if it's easy enough, I'll build you one too. ^_^

Apparently in the unaired pilot the key was going to be a small torch-like device very much like the new series Sonic Screwdriver!

It says so in the info text for the Pilot (on The Beginning box set) and possibly also in the commentary, can't remember for sure. The light/torch/wand key was supposed to pull the entire lock out the door (this remains in the plot as it's discussed in The Daleks but the key is just a key).

lol, it's not so bad. Most of my sources are just spare keys in a similar style to the ones on Doctor Who, the rest are items you can usually find on eBay. The one that's hardest to find is the bottom row, far left key ^^ Still, to get all these, you just have to be as obsessive and compulsive as I am XD

Er...Yeah, anyways, I think I want to make a clone of your house and then take everything in it.
That's the nice way to steal things because you get to keep the originals.

You should just take a picture of everything all at once. Put Every collectible item thing you have in one room, then stand in the doorway and take a buncha pictures.

...you may hafta use more than one room.

Oh, and I found my key. It was in the pocket of a jacket that I wore last week.

These are aweosme :D I have the darker puter spade shaped one (on the far righ, bottom row) and I wear it all the time as a necklace, only I use a shorter chain cause I kept getting the longer one caught on things. Yay for Tardis keys!

Well thank you1 ^_^ yes, the Darker Pewter one is a fine replica. I usually carry it in my pocket instead of wearing it. My favorite so fas is the bottom row, far left key. VERY nice piece that one is. ^_^
