Sonic Screwdrivers and TARDIS Keys by Police-Box-Traveler Sonic Screwdrivers and TARDIS Keys by Police-Box-Traveler
Just working on some new pictures and needed to take out all my Tardis Keys and a few assorted sonic screwdrivers in my collection.

It's not ALL my screwdrivers. My little brass prototype isn't there nor are two of my Baker sonics and I don't have my Pertwee sonic there or my Troughton sonic but I threw in a few I had handy including my very rare Isher Artifacts sound sonic in the top left. First proportionally accurate classic series sonic with sound ever produced. I was very lucky to get one. BTW, none of these sonics are the toy versions. Once I went metal replica with my sonics I never looked back to plastic XD

As for the keys, there's a LOT there. For anyone curious, the screen accurate/ prop accurate keys are the row at the very top left going over to the TARDIS door lock. The rest are an assortment of licensed "replicas" which aren't accurate at all and fan made keys and knock-offs of fan made keys as well as some Yale and ERA type modern series keys I'm still experimenting with.

Not a very GOOD picture but I figured you guys might like a look at my collection of keys while I have them all in one place. I'm planning to make a sort of resource guide of replicas that are available and how they stack up to screen accuracy and such. I'm having to call in some favors because there's a few key replicas I don't have that are very important out there.

Anyhow, enjoy!

Hello, ummm...at some point yes. Some of them are kinda dismantled and a few aren't in this picture due to not being completed yet but at some point I'll probably put all the sonics I own in one shot.

Kinda sorta. Most of these are customs like my perception filter key I made and my own custom design sonic unless you managed to buy in on my run of those. Also all these sonics are metal and I believe I have a few other keys you don't but that's still cool.

Well I have a few more now, need to update. Unfortunately I don't have one of your amazing screwdrivers though I do have a few metal ones of my own.

I think the keys I lack are the one that was available at some convention in the US - the one you have pictured with your own screwdriver, the Spirit of Light key and the Trekker key - though to be honest now that Mooncrest have produced an actual screen accurate key I'll probably stop hunting now.

Yeah I didn't picture all my screwdrivers but my little brass one is with a guy so we can make new ones and I think I left out my copper sonic and another guys build it yourself 4th Doctor sonic but I figured it would be redundant what with the customized RB sound sonic and the Isher Artifacts sonic.

As for keys, you're missing a Spirit of Light key. I was lucky to find an 80's and a 90's variation of those. I think you have one of the Ultimate Buckles Unlimited keys but I managed to find a variation of that too. I think you're missing the 800-TREKKER key though you have one of the Singapore made oversized copies, then I recently got some steel Yale styled keys based on my research thread on the RPF. Not sure if you built a Perception Filter key yet. Those are fun. Working on a new one. And there is that convention piece I mentioned yeah. I managed to score four total so far. I'm leaving one unmodified. Personally, I would keep looking at least for an 800-TREKKER key. I know Organic Mechanic is working on replicating it at least so that should help a lot. I'm totally going for one XD

I'm working on making a picture resource guide for keys soon. Only missing one or two keys for it but they're easy to get pictures of at least. Going to do a screen accurate guide then Yale styled, then Ankh styled then 7th Doctor styled so people know what to look for and how accurate some keys are to screen used.

Well, technically no. I have some of my own design. The only prop/show accurate ones are the one in the upper right corner. That's the 96 TV movie sonic used buy the 7th and 8th Doctor. The middle one laying horizontally with the burgundy ring. That is the 3rd/4th Doctors sonic. The bottom left one is the 9th Doctors. The one that looks like a magic want with green and yellow belongs to Romana 2. The last one between a blue and silver and a brass sonic is the 1oth Doctors sonic. The rest are customs.

Was inspired by our earlier conversation, and have just picked up the one in the second row, 5th in (nearest the horizontal sonic). The Baker era replica. :)

Yes, that's not a bad key for licensed. Only issue I had was the trademark logo is so ugly XD I wound up filing it off mine. XD If youu get a chance take a look at Mooncrest Models Tardis keys on their site. Probably the most accurate ever and they're going to be releasing a Baker type very soon.

You know, it's funny, I'd read about your filing off the TM stuff. But mine doesn't have it. All the rest of the kety looks the same though.

Will take a peek at the one you recommended!

Well unless they changed it or we're thinking of the wrong key then it should be on the edge of the cross arms. Not terribly visible but it bugged me. Like I said though they may have left it off newer keys.

Yeah, now that you smacked me in the face with it. I must have been so fan-boy excited to have it that my eyes went gooey!
Even so, Your key collection dwarfs any I've ever seen. It's flat-out amazing.

Moreover, you've also become a great source of prop & toy information for me. I've read through a majority of your reviews and descriptions... and I now officially keep you in mind as I think on my Who art projects. :)

Oh I didn't hit you that hard with it XD I'm sure SOMEONE must have more keys than I do and I do have some blank spots in my collection so when I do eventually get around to my resource guide I'll have to get help because there's a few pieces I need to point out a trail of recasts of original fan made keys.

Lol, well thanks. I just have a lot of time to research as best I can. Glad it can help.

Oh that sucks. I know you've had that one for a long while too. That's why i have so many I think. XD Always at the ready. XD I can recommend the Mooncrest Models Tardis Key though. They are excellent for the price. He has a 3rd and a 7th Doctor key available and is working on a 4th Doctor variant right now. [link] They're awesome too! Really tough lead-free pewter and the most accurate I've ever seen to the screen used props. Can't wait to add his 4th Doctors key to my collection.

It's surprising how lost you feel without it lol. I just can't think what I've done with it, I never take it out with me because, well that's just asking for trouble....or have I? For some reason now I have the vaguest thought that I did indeed bring it out to uni or something....but that was ages ago, if indeed it actually happened lol
Ooh yeah I do rather like the McCoy key, seen jolly briefly in GhostLight.
Just tedious having misplaced my own, oh well, I'm pretty sure its in the house somewhere....just a matter of finding the ruddy thing

Lol, oddly enough I always have one on me of some sort. Usually a Pertwee or Baker type if i can but sometimes a more modern ERA key.

Yeah it's too bad the McCoy key didn't get much screen time at all. Such a lovely prop and I've even gotten over the back side of the key being so plain.

I hang all of mine next to the door so I can take one I want to have with me and hang it up when not in use. Really handy.

Well, what harm does it do? I mean really, and should you find a TARDIS standing on a street corner, you know what to do...

It is a real shame, but I guess it may have had more screen time if the show carried on, I'm actually a little disappointed that the key we have now is simply a Yale key....seems a bit dull lol

Now that's fantastic lol post a picture seriously lol

This is really very interesting indeed

Not to mention the multitude of classic figures that we haven't seen yet at the very end...

Exactly! XD

Yeah I really wish they had allowed the series to 1: let Colin Baker have one more season and 2: let McCoy have another few years in the role. He really is one of the best IMO. Still, it turns out that the modern key is a bit more special than it looks. One thing is that it's steel but it's also not actually a Yale and another is that it's customized and blanked out smooth. Kind of pretty really. I'm not too disappointed though because we've been researching the keys and up until 1973 for Pertwee's last season the key was just a normal key. Then after series 14 or so the special key reverted back to a normal key again. the 5th Doctor holds it up in Black Orchid. It wasn't until Ghostlight that the special key returned again. Then of course we have the infamous use of a replica companies key being used as a prop in the TVM. XD Rather funny that.

Ummm...I think I have a picture somewhere but I'll have to find it...AHHH! Here it is: [link]

Unfortunately I can't see it. XD It's set to "private" I'm afraid.

Absolutely, it's ridiculous how badly those two are treated, if you believe what some say, you'd think they were the soul reason for the show's cancellation, I still can't get people who openly hate a particular Doctor, seems amazing to me.
Oh yes of course I remember the Black Orchid key now, I just find it odd that an alien spaceship should have a normal key lock, even if it's supposed to look like an Earth object...

Oh that's wonderful, almost like a bunch of grapes, but with keys....

Gah, well it was a video showing how they digitally sculpt then make an action figure, in this instance it was Churchill, it involved scanning him and such, really very interesting, then at the end it showed a picture of the complete action figure range, classic and new series, released figures and unreleased, showed loads of classic figures which haven't seen the light of day yet, very exciting, things like a humanoid Axon, one of Omega's guards, the Brigadier, Jo Grant, 7th Doctor in duffle coat from Fenric and rather excitingly the First Doctor from the Five Doctors, impossible to tell if it was Richard Hurndall, but rather interesting to see they've done it.
And at the end of the selection was poor old Rory, who people are desperate to get.
I really want one of these FX dales, I don't know if you've seen them, but they look fab

Yeah I don't get it. I think it MAY be because the 10th Doctor's "morals" were so opposed to killing even at the expense of others that people think the 6th and 7th Doctors are more cold blooded. XD I don't HATE the 10th Doctor but the way they wrote him annoys the HELL out of me XD

Lol, yeah I know, but it's not exactly a "normal" lock though is it? When the Brig tried to open the Tardis with it in "Spearhead from Space" it wouldn't let him. It only looks normal and in many respects that's not a BAD thing. I do prefer the special keys though. Such fun little props. XD

Right? XD I'm starting to run out of space on the hooks though. This keeps up and I'll have to expand XD

Oh cool! Too bad I couldn't see it. XD Still pisses me off that they haven't released Rory though XP I mean, REALLY? can't release Amy's husband? UGH! XD

YES! I have seen the FX Daleks. I'm really REALLY looking forward to the Invasion Dalek. So awesome! And the Necros Dalek with sound? I'm SO there!
