His Logic Is Impaired By Irrational Sentimentality by Police-Box-Traveler His Logic Is Impaired By Irrational Sentimentality by Police-Box-Traveler
The 4th Doctor is in a stand off against the Daleks as he holds Davros hostage, a bomb planted on his travel machine by the 4th Doctor. One single movement of his finger activating the Doctor's sonic screwdriver, and the explosive will detonate. The Daleks, knowing that the Doctor wishes to continue to survive don't believe he will do it because one wishing to survive wouldn't logically kill himself even to stop his enemy from obtaining their goal since he would also die, however, Davros assures them that indeed, the doctor would do it because his logic is impaired by irrational sentimentality.

Destiny of the Daleks wasn't the best Dalek story ever and was plagued by lower budget effects and some pretty severely beaten Dalek props but it was still another fine episode acted very well by Tom Baker with a great introduction to Lalla Ward as Romana 2 (my favorite companion BTW)

Seen here we have my Series 17 figures of the Doctor, the Daleks and Davros as played by David Gooderson in the Michael Wisher mask. since the mask was basically the same between both Genesis and Destiny the toy seen here is a simple repaint, however in reality the slightly modified mask didn't fit David very well and the mouth section moved poorly...they also neglected to add the voice effect so he sounded weird as well.

The 4th Doctor figure in this set is indeed from the Character Options Destiny of the Daleks boxed set but is wearing the scarf from the City of Death two pack that was recently released and features a custom head using the series 12 Doctor head.

Hope you all enjoy.

Lol, too bad yelling that wouldn't work on a Dalek. XD Still it's a better solution than what the tenth "Doctor" usually did, XD

True. Too bad he didn't use the sonic right away, but then it would have been a rather short serial, lol.

Yes and he might've blown his own balls off as well as the Daleks'.

Lol, I didn't mean while he was right next to him. XD I meant after he jumped out the window before the Daleks could remove the bomb.

Yeah but he needed time to get a decent distance away so he'd not get caught in the blast, and that afforded the Daleks time to take the bomb away.

Yes, I just wish they had shown the blast to be bigger if that was the case. I always figured that it was because he wanted Davros to survive that to send a message that he COULD have killed Davros right there. I can see scenarios where if he killed him he may have not found out what was going on, though it has been awhile since I watched that story. I've been going back to collect Hartnell era serials I haven't got yet. I'll never know why people turn their noses up at the 60's serials.

I was really tempted to get the Destiny set, but I reaaally have too many Daleks...is that possible? I seem to have found a way.
Also, noticed we haven't spoken in ages either...

It was hard for me to justify it as well aside from having two more Baker era Daleks and a Tom with tall boots XD And these sets aren't exactly cheap either and on top of that the Genesis set was actually more desirable with the Davros and the Dalek mutant and two Genesis Daleks. In the end I bought the Destiny set mainly for a Series 17 Tom. XD

Yeah it has been ages hasn't it? Wish there was some way I could telephone XD Of course that is difficult with the time difference. Mainly though, it's...been a bit rough here with all that happened last year. My mind has been getting preoccupied by...things XD

Quite, for me, if they got Tom's jacket and scarf right I'd probably have bought it, althoughI must admit that I do rather like the colour scheme of the Destiny Daleks, the light grey is awfully nice for some reason
I saw pictures from Toy Fair recently and they show talking classic Daleks by CO which is a little exciting, apparantly one from Destiny, the Supreme Dalek from Planet and an invisible Dalek from Planet too, although I think I'd only be seriously interested if the sound clip was actually from the episode the Daleks are from

Oh yeah ofcourse, well I hope all was well after what happened last year. It's never nice when a year ends on a bad note, I've had that before

Yes, they just repainted the Pyramids Of Mars coat and added painted details for the piping which is just cheating. The scarf though is replaceable with a closer one but it's still off to me because his collar of his coat isn't flipped up and the stripes are just all wrong.

Oh yes! I had seen some on Flickr of the new toys. I may just buy them regardless of the sound being right just to get more XD

It's...well enough. I mean, I'm not a clinically depressed person that needs meds but, sometimes when I slow down it gets to me for a bit. I work over night from 7PM to 7AM and don't get much sun during the winter so that makes it worse too. XP

Well honestly I don't imagine them making him with the flipped collar would really have worked unless they made the scarf sculpted as part of the coat otherwise the whole thing would have been too bulky, lord knows the scarf they gave the City of Death Tom was bulky enough

haha well she shall see how they turn out, I actually don't think I have much need for figures anymore, I only really go for ones that get my attention now, I must say though I would rather like the Drashig puppet, what a brilliant idea lol

Eee yeah I imagine that doesn't help, I guess the fact you're busy is good, keeps your mind off things

I think they could have even made the collar a part of the scarf and glued it onto the coat. Really though the City Of Death scarf was just a poor sculpt like that. I tried repainting it but it will need a "from scratch" repaint to look right. Shame really.

Isn't it? i can't wait to get that set. I just picked up the Image of the Fendahl set. That's a nice piece. i love the baby Fendahleen. XD

I try to keep busy. Just working or tinkering with some new props. I jsut got an Omni form the 82 TV series Voyagers. Awesome looking prop.

actually yeah that would have worked, either way the scarf would have been un-removable, I just wish they'd bring out more stuff from the 80s damn it.

oh yeah....well I'm a little indifferent to that set too lol I did get the Sontaran and Leela though, really love Stor, not sure why, he's my favourite Sontaran. I do wish people would stop telling me how lifelike and realistic Linx looked. I NEVER EVER bought the idea they were real creatures when I was a kid lol

Rightly so. Thankfully you have hobbies to peak your interest

Well, if they could figure out how to mold a flipped up callar on the coat and the scarf sculpted more slender around the shoulders they still could have made it removable. It was really just to save money I think.

I don't blame you. The classic series Sontarans are awesome toys. I finally got Linx as well. I plan to do some more comparison shots of the Dapol and Character Options toys now that I got more of the figures that match the Dapol toys.

lol, yeah that mask looked terrible XD The most realistic they looked was the modern Sontarans and even then, it's clearly a make up appliance XD

Yes. i just built a new 4th Doctors sonic kit. Turned out well too. ^_^ On an odd note I'm designing an upgrade kit for a prosthetic hand for someone that I may be able to patent and sell to people. ^_^ Came out of the blue but it's a neat challenge i think.
